Virginia State Champs…Again!

Both the Richmond Braves 12u and 13u National teams won their third State Championship this spring and have further distanced themselves from the competition in their home state of Virginia.

The 12u Braves National team won their third consecutive state championship down in Newport News, VA at the Nations Baseball Virginia State Championships.  The Braves move to 41-4 on the season, have won 6 of their 8 tournaments, and have been ranked in the Top 20 all season!  This is a special group and this weekend was just another reminder why.  With timely contributions from everyone, great pitching, and solid defense the Braves again showed team dominance going 4-0 and scoring 39 runs while giving up just 10.  While the Braves were one of the few teams invited to the Travel Ball Select National Championships in GA they have already committed to head down to Myrtle Beach for the Summer Nationals in July.  Congratulations to Kyle, Jacob, Wesley, Ryan, Reece, Kevin, Austin, Pearce, Hunter, Chase, Alex, and Hunter on a record-setting summer!

With heat Indexes reaching record levels, the 13U Braves National team traveled to Hampton, VA for the Nations Baseball Wood Bat State Championship.  The Braves showed what preparation and commitment are all about by going 5-0 and outscoring their opponents 40-8.  The weekend was filled with outstanding performances that culminated in a championship game with a highly competitive Braves Elite Squad.  The Braves Elite secured the #1 Seed on Saturday and mowed through the competition on Sunday to arrive at a 3pm showdown with Braves National.  Braves National continued with the hot bats and posted 6 runs in the first 3 innings. Meanwhile, Braves Elite ran into a buzz saw in Braves National starter, E’lan Goodwin.   In an incredible effort on the big stage, E’lan went 6 innings allowing one hit with 13K’s and 0BB.  Congratulations to Elan, Austin, Brent, Miguel, Tyler S., Kyle, Tommy, Tyler T., Michael and Tanner on an outstanding Spring Season!

This event was the final warm-up before both teams head south for  Triple Crown’s “Summer Nationals” in Myrtle Beach, SC.  Go Braves!
